Character Analysis: Negi Springfield
Today I’m going to do a character analysis for Negi Springfield, the main protagonist in the series Negima!. I’m going to do Character analysis every Monday and Friday from now on.
Negi is a small, 10 year old boy who was born into a magic-using community in Wales. One thing I find odd is that the characters that come from England in this series (Negi, Nekane, Takamichi Takahata) all have very un-brittish names with the exception of Evangeline. Anyways, Negi graduated from his magic school in Brittain, and was assigned to go to teach an all Girls Junior High School in Japan called Mahora Academy. When he first arrives in Japan, he meets (befriends?) Asuna Kagurazaka, a hot-tempered, irritable girl, who turns out to be in his class. Immediately after he enters his first class, he gets romantic attention from all of the 31 girls in class 2-A except Asuna, who is pissed at him for replacing the teacher she wanted.
Negi is a kind, caring person, who always looks out for his students and tries to do things that will help them. He has brown hair that he usually puts back in a ponytail, and carries a staff with a white ribbon/thingy on it that he got from his father, whom he is searching for throughout the series. Negi may or may not have romantic feelings for Nodoka, a shy student who is deeply in love with him.
